Bahamavention Wrap-Up

We're home. We had such a great time in the Bahamas ... Jed really outdid himself and planned a great vacation. We are so glad Hill and Kell could make it ... they only added to the already great company.

Here is the rest of our trip in a nutshell:

We SNUBA'd in the ocean. Think snorkeling, but attached to an air tank that lets you go down about 20 feet. All but one of us really liked it (the same one who played soccer with me growing up and her contribution to the team was eating the orange slices on the sideline ... love ya Hill!). We could have used some further instruction and the SNUBA instructor kinda disconnected my husband's air supply while he was on the ocean floor, but besides that, we had a really great time (oh, and Jed's fine).

Hill and I got asked a dozen times if we were twins ... that hasn't happened in a long time, so it was kinda fun. But we weren't the only ones who got asked if we were related. Since Jed and Kelly are sporting the same "short hair cut," a few people questioned if they were twins, too.

Maybe the best thing about The Atlantis is that it comes equipped with a fully-stocked water park. There are really fun rides, some with tubes, some without, some bendy, some steep. But by far the favorite "ride" of the group was something called "The Lazy River." Just the sound of it makes you wanna go, doesn't it? Sittin' on a tube, winding around the resort, the occasional rapid, a section of waves, and best of all, a conveyor belt that takes you right up to a few of the slides. It was the laziest/best invention EVER! We all had a hard time ripping ourselves away from it. This picture is the only thing that we have left of The Lazy River, other than the memories we'll hold dear forever ...

I guess the only negative about a water-vacation is a lack of pictures. Jed took a few around the resort the morning we left, but even they don't do it justice (sorry babe). Here's a bit of a pictorial tour though ...

Our dwellings for the week (if that doesn't make you want to pack up and head out, nothing will!) ...

A little place called "The Cove" ...

Decor inside the casino (relax, no gambling took place--except with our lives at SNUBA) ...

The resort landscape ...

The ocean ...

One of many pools ...

The "river" running through the resort ...

The Royal Towers ...

The Royal Towers fountain ...

Anyway, the point is, you absolutely should, have, need, MUST go to the Bahamas!!!

Bahamavention - Day 2

Captain's Log - The Bahamas - Paradise Island - Day 2.

Day 2 was a good one. For one it is our actual anniversary. For two, Hill and Kell arrived! We got right in our swimsuits and headed straight for the lazy rivers to end all lazy rivers. It was 2 miles of windy, curvy, rapid-ee fun. I could spend the whole vacation there.

Jed took a "leap of faith" and went down the STEEPEST water slide I've ever seen. Another check mark on the man card for my husb!

After the fun in the sun we headed to Carmines--a little taste of home away from home. Good food, great company, plenty of leftovers, yum.

We finished the night hanging out on the beach.

We relaxed ...

Kelly hunted for seashells ...

Jed posed for the camera ...

so did Hill and I ...

Hill and Kell--er--held hands ...

And we all watched the beautiful Caribbean sunset.

Bahamavention - Day 1

Captain's Log - The Bahamas - Paradise Island - Day 1:

Thanks to JetBlue for the early anniversary gift (yeah, so our anny isn't actually until tomorrow ... sorry about all the confusion) of an early arrival in the Bahamas. It's steamy hot here (which is fine by me because there are a lot of pools to cool us down!) Our very nice (seriously we were expecting a dinner invite by the time we arrived) cab (and when I say 'cab' I mean THE oldest mini-van in the world) driver gave us some good insider Bahamian tips ... one of which was to stop and get some groceries "off-resort" because the Atlantis is known for many things (none of which are cheap). When we arrived at the grocery store he also requested we buy him a "fruit juice" which I loved!!! Can you imagine an NY cabbie a) taking you to the grocery store (and waiting for you while you shop) for no extra charge and b) requesting a fruit juice for his troubles ... yeah, we love it here so far. So, after a $6.99 box of cereal, some milk, a few other things and $60 poorer, we made it to the resort. Today we explored, we rested (early flight)

we swam, we water-slided, we lazy rivered. It's been a great first day.

My sis and her husb get here tomorrow and we are really excited to have some fun in the sun with them. Plus, we have some good pranks planned for the two of them ... I hope they don't mind frozen swimsuit bottoms ...

More pics to come ...

Photoplug

It's been awhile now since me and the boys started our little photography blog. It's going pretty well, at least it's a lot of fun for us. Today we started a new project. One photo per day. One of the three of us is posting at least one photo every day. We're shooting (no pun intended) for a year. Check out day one.

PS. If you're a budding photographer like us, you should join in our OPPD project. It's a good way to keep a photography journal and force yourself to keep shooting.

Utard

A glimpse into our Utah trip.

Heather:
Organized my mom and dad's basement for three full days. (Some call it a chore, I call it a treat.)
*I'm SO disappointed that I didn't get a picture...it was a lot of work!

Celebrated my sweet niece, Taytum's, first birthday party
(Seriously, is she a pumpkin or what???)
Spent the night in Idaho at the elder Eastman home
(With a few mechanical difficulties to make things exciting)

Ate WAY too much food (that line appears in my blogs WAY too much!)

Spent some good quality time with friends (and their cute kids)

Spent some great quality time with the family (nieces and nephews are getting cuter by the day!)

Celebrated the 4th of July with a parade, carnival, BBQ and fireworks. (I bet no one else can say the same thing, right???)

Had an excellent flight home that arrived an HOUR early (then we waited on the tarmac for an hour, but no complaints here!)

Jed:
Golf

Work has hit me straight between the eyes since I've been back...which means we need another vacation. Guess we'll go to the BAHAMA'S for a two year anniversary hoorah!

*Picture us 6 shades tanner when we return home!
