This little piggy...

The Astoria Ward has an annual cake auction to raise money for the Young Women's Girls Camp. Because I am the 1st counselor in the YW, and because I like to let my creative juices flow while baking...I decided to participate and make a cake.
I knew I didn't want it to be just ANY cake, so I thought about an animal cake...they always seem fun and taste so much better than your run of the mill bundt, so I did a little research, thought long and hard, and came up with a cake in the shape of this...

The little pig cost me about 18 dollars to make and the highest bidder was 9.00...go figure. But, we had a lot of fun and ate WAY too much cake!

Heather that is awesome! You don't need a job . . . just sell cakes for a living! If I could get paid to sit at home and dream up crafts to make life would be great.

darn. I totally would have bought it, but I had my sights set on some ipods and purses....the pix you posted do no justice for the sparkles. There was pink sprinkles dusted over the whole piggy...so cute.

I have it on good authority (cause I am married to the Bish), that you can expense that $18-...

Good work.

All that work and $9. The Peanut Butter Bars used to auction off for $75. Where is the justice. Next time make something simple and ugly, but go in the middle. It makes a difference.

Heathie, I think it is high time to start up Frostbite. I'll go in on it with ya. Move your little hiney back to UT and lets give it a run. Pig cakes will be the signiature dish. We'll figure out the rest. Have your people call my people. Love you tons! Wish you and Jedders were here. I mean, if Jed wasn't here already...

Hey! What's your old roomie's name? What does she look like? The girls will go over to Logan's station a lot while he's cutting my hair to see what he's doing...I'm wondering if she's one I'd recognize. That's so funny.
Also, Carl was asking me if you guys lived right in the burrows or not...I thought so, but couldn't remember for sure.

Love it -- and esp. because I think growing up one year I wanted a piggie cake - and it looked very similar to that! Cute and sounds exactly right - spend more making it then you get! (and we wonder why wedding cakes are SOOO expensive -- they actually cost quite a bit usually to make)
