Say Hello to Our Little Friend

We went to Utah last weekend. We came home with a dog. Her name's Frankie. She's a weiner. She's mini. She's freakin' awesome.

My favorite things so far about Frankie:

1. She's a willing photographic subject

2. She likes to watch me work . . . secretly

3. When anyone around her gets nervous or upset I can say "Frankie says relax"

4. She likes to play ball

About #4. She's not very good at it yet. We're blaming the ratio of the ball's size to her.

We're really excited she's part of our family!

A weekend of Eastman's

This weekend we were able to have Jed's bro and sis-in-law, Matt and Kim, visit from Idaho.

We saw John Mayer in concert...it was pretty amazing. He can wail. Or so Jed says. I was as equally entertained by the tween girls dancing as if we were in a nightclub with techno music.

We woke up early to start the 12-mile run (or in my case, bike ride.) Why a 12-mile run on a VACATION you ask? So did I. The answer: All three are training for a marathon (and half marathon for Kim...just as impressive) so, I played the pack mule and rode alongside. It was a great way to show them the city...and they just so happened to pick a weekend with AMAZING weather.

We did a little exploring, picture taking, and sushi-ing. It was a quick trip, but we had a great time with them!
And, apparently we are selfish because we didn't take ANY photos of the other two.

PS. I look a little J.Lo in this picture with the big earrings and the shades. Unintentional. Well, maybe just slightly unintentional.

Grey Skies are going to Clear Up

What a weekend in San Fran! The rain disappeared just in time for my mom to visit. We had a great time with her:
-Swans Oyster Bar
-Hanging out at the Marina
-Facials (her first, gasp!)
-Frozen Yogurt and in copious amounts
-Lots of talking and relaxing
-Hike up to Twin Peaks

Glad Jed has his camera, because the views were pretty amazing! Don't you think?

A Sober Girls Guide to Wine Country

Jed did it again. Made my day. We went on a little outing to Napa Valley this weekend. A quick hour drive from our place in SF. So, what do two people who don't drink do in wine country?

1. Start the weekend off right at Zushi Puzzle.
2. Watch the Olympics Opening Ceremonies in the comfort of Marriotts bed
3. Breakfast at THE BEST diner we've been to yet. And, if any of you have followed this blog, we eat a lot. Corned beef hash NOT from the can, sweet cream pancakes, fresh squeezed oj. Yum!
4. Drive around to see the barren grape vines, but because one of us has an amazing eye, still capture some awesome photos
5. Tour the adorable town
6. Shop at J.Crew outlet. We never leave this place without finding a few deals
7. Make great memories with my favorite person

I can see clearly now the rain is gone!

It's been a few long WET weeks of rain in San Francisco! The clouds parted and it was TIME that we finally leave our four walls and explore a little of our still NEW town!

We live about 2 miles from this place. It's a nice little walk from our house, so we ventured out. We were not the only ones with this idea. The park was filled with dogs, walkers, runners, joggers, bikers, explorers, wino's (I think there was a wine festival) and we LOVED seeing so many people out and about. Seeing people active (especially me) always warms my heart.

We walked to the pier and saw fishermen, seagulls, and boats GALORE! It was the first time since being in San Fran that I started to feel like this was something I could get used to. Now we need to find a friend with a boat. Anyone? If not, I will just have to stare at this picture and wait.


Jed has been begging for sushi for the last few weeks. We asked around and were told about Zushi Puzzle. It has HANDS DOWN, the worst website I have ever seen, but the best sushi I have ever tasted! We love finding little hidden gems, and this was a big one. Two thumbs way up.

It was nice to be out with my husb, nice to be out in the sun, nice to be in our city. It's happening people, we are starting to like this place.

Idol Thoughts ... they're baaaaack

Here we go again. Booyah. I'm giddy--in an extremely manly sorta way of course. Felt like coming home to a warm blanket watching the Season 9 premiere last night.

I thought I'd take an "I'm bored" break from work and start off the season with a chat about the judges.

First, Simon leaving. I hate it, but I don't hate him for it. Idol can't last forever and a true champ leaves on top. I'm still not sure whether I'm going to watch it next year when he's gone though. I'm leaning toward no. He's my AI northern star and the last remaining sense of normalcy in the pop-aspiring world. Not sure if I can stomach it without him.

Second, here come's Ellen. I'm just not sure. She's great. Hilarious. Looks like a scene from Seinfeld when she dances, but let's hope that keeps to a minimum anyway. But what expertise does she have as a musical judge? Further proof that the show is less about musical talent and more about popularity and ratings. Could be a sinking ship. Explains why Simon's ditching I guess.

Last, who knew Victoria Beckham was so nice? Mad props to her, and her hubby for marrying her.

Feels good to be back.
