Spring has Sprung...

Well, not quite, but we are SOOOOO ready for Spring! The Park (as in Central Park) is one block from our work and it is screaming for us to come and hang out at lunch. The weather has been pretty cold still. I have stopped wearing scarves, gloves, and leggings to try to prove that it's not that cold...but, I'm only kidding myself and freezing in the process.
Jed and I had a nice Easter. On Friday we were let out of work early in honor of "Good Friday" and Jed planned a progressive Easter Egg Hunt down 5th Ave. We stopped and got a basket and grass at Duane Reade, a scarf at the street vendor, some perfume at Sephora, and a webcam at Apple store. It was a very fun surprise. We had a nice dinner with our friends on Sunday (thanks guys!) and we hung out. It was nice...a day hanging out with Jed is always fun.
We hope everyone is getting Spring Fever and wants to make their way out to NYC to visit! We have a couple visitors in April and can't wait to see them.
We are also attaching some St. Patty's Day pics. Enjoy!

Somtimes I wonder...

why we live in this city.

Why you ask?

Let me explain. I leave the office at 12:30...meet up with my husband for lunch. Get a phone call from my boss telling me not to return to work because they have the street blocked off. Odd, but ok. We finish lunch, and wander back to the vicinity and see cop cars, ambulances, fire trucks, black SUV's, etc.

I ask someone what was going on and they reply "I think they found a bomb or something" while taking pictures. I say to myself "This is the LAST place I want to be" so I take off in the other direction. In the meantime, Jed heads back to work. (Before anyone passes judgement on Jed, thinking that he was insincere, he wasn't...he had a meeting and I assured him I was leaving the scene)

I find myself next to Central Park...then, I notice a trailor with names on it, then the Kraft services table filled with yummy food, then I see "Confessions of a Shopaholic" sign...apparently, I just stumbled upon a filming.

I get a phone call saying we can come back to work. Turns out a homeless man left his suitcase unattended and people got nervous. The bomb squad assured us that the suitcase contained nothing out of the normal.

I am back to work.

This is why we live here, I guess. Can't predict what will happen next!

Luck O the Irish

St. Patty's Day hasn't ever been one of those "holidays" that I have celebrated. We don't drink, we don't party, we're not Irish...but, the Eastman's do have reason to celebrate. Exactly one year ago Jed took me to Logan Utah, had a picnic of my favorite food from Firehouse Pizzaria, and presented me with a new pair of shoes for St. Patrick's Day. After pulling the shoes out of the box, I saw a VERY sparkly ring on one of the buckles. Jed got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I cried, he felt victorious (for making me cry)...it was a beautiful day.

Now we have reason to celebrate. Oh, and we live in the biggest Irish community in New York, so, we are technically Irish now. Erin go Brah!!!

SubWAY

Reasons I love the subway:
1. READING...we get to read so many books which you just don't get to do while driving in rush hour!
2. The entertaining ways people try to make money:
Old Man singing Amazing Grace with a funky reggae beat
Mariachi Bands
Veterans
Young boys selling M&M's (my personal favorite that I ALWAYS fall for)
3. The thrill of sneaking on last minute when the doors are ready to close...
4. Turning the corner of Queensboro Plaza and seeing the LARGE building covered in graffiti.
5. Not having to pay for gasoline!

IKEA Rears It's Ugly Head...Again

Our first go at "zipping" had some ups and some downs to say the least...

Needless to say it all worked out in the end, seems to always be the case. And the mirror looks great in our apt. Heathe will be checkin' herself out plenty from now on.

Twelve things you didn't know about the Eastmans

Here is the infamous tags and truthfully, I love reading them and hope you enjoy ours...

#12. I called Jed "Jet" for the first 15 minutes of our relationship. I thought "this kid has such a rad name"...then I found out it was Jed and love it even more! He called me Heidi twice that night.

#11. Our first date was Death Cab for Cutie concert, then a Dave Mathews Band concert, then Ben Harper. Jed also invited me to the Format concert. I normally would have made up an excuse to not go, but I just said "no, and I can't think of a reason, I just don't want to go."

#10. Jed loves when I say "let's get a treat" unfortunately that is after every lunch and dinner.

#9. I knew Jed loved me when I was SOOO sick and he took care of me; made me soup, bought me Sprite, and season one and two of Grey's Anatomy.

#8. Heather doesn't like fruit in anything but fruit. No pineapple on pizza, I don't like pie, no fruit flavored ice cream. Just fruit by itself. And, other weird food things: No mixing savory and sweet and no mixing hot and cold.

#7. We watch Jeopardy EVERY night together. We are sources of useless knowledge!

#6. We both share a common dream of being the first couple weighing less than 200 pounds to be on the Biggest Loser.

#5. We miss Peanut Butter/Oreo shakes from Stans in Provo as much as we miss our family!

#4. We aspire to be restaurateur's when we are older...the name we have chosen is "mama and papa bears" (we are open to suggestion for name changes :)

#3. Jed snores.

#2. Heather sleeps like a rock and does not notice #3.

#1. Heather's 26, Jed's 28, but their lives didn't start until July 21, 2007
